Week 2 Wrap (08-09)

Week 2 is out just like Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson. Reportedly.

Matchup of the week is tough to pick. We had 2 matchups where both players went over the century mark... one of those was the only 2 unbeatens to play this week, but it's only week 2... so we'll give it to:

Uncle Chris (Space Cadets - 105.57) knocks off last year's champ Dad (ChumpBeaters - 93.32). Both teams have nice scores across, except for the QBs. Uncle Chris has Boldin blow up which is really the difference. Notable that Uncle Chris was behind by about 7 on Monday night with T.O. to go, and T.O. does what he does best... errr... second best, and scores a few TDs. The thing he does best is sound like an idiot. But he was only the 2nd biggest idiot on the field as DeShawn Jackson threw away an easy touchdown by dropping it near the goal line. Untouched, literally he dropped it because he was trying to show off and dropped it too early. This forces Westbrook to do the scoring for him. Uncle Chris is .500 for the first time in his FFB career! Is Dad lost without Brady?

The beneficiary of Westbrook's extra TD is Ben (thehousebergerbuilt - 139.36) who spanks another good score for Brandon/Jim (Chunder Blunders - 103.93). Brandon would have beat 7 other teams but comes up against the wrong player again. The luckstick is still paying for the illegitimate 2006 championship. Ben got maybe the best performance of the year from McNabb and Willie Parker last week, and this week does the same with Aaron Rodgers Santana Moss. Is this going to fade or is he going to put up 139 points each week? Ben really does get almost the same total score from last week even though his numbers vary so much by position.

The highest scoring matchup of the week is Jacob (Miracle Workers - 116.07) falling to me (Juicers - 147.47). I get a whopping 5 players with more than 15 points. Jake's Defender makes a valiant effort, scoring as many TDs as his QB, but it's not enough. Jake gets the highest losing score this week, which marks the 2nd week in a row that the highest losing score plays against me. Tough luck guys. Darren McFadden takes his rightful place as a star for me when Justin Fargas gets hurt, but the teams is running about 45 times per game, so no matter what the Oakland backfield is going to see plenty of work. Warner continues his roll from last year for me, and might be a top fantasy QB picked very late. But you can only play Miami occasionally. Jake has Chris Johnson looking good for his own rookie RB find. I set a new season scoring record, and we put up 263 points between us for the early matchup record.

Another high scoring matchup has Mom (Rockhoppers - 122.19) stay unbeaten over Stitch (Rust Belt - 97.37) who stays un-unbeaten. Rivers and Romo post huge scores, but Rivers is the 2nd to top scorer of the week, and Mom wins on the strength of that and by chipping up a little with her kicker and defender. McGee was my defender last year and I can't believe how early she took him away from me this year (round 13!) but I guess it's paying off so far. He has lots of tackles, return yards, and an interception per game so far. Torry Holt proves the Rams aren't totally fantasy-irrelevant for Stitch, and Portis goes off for 2 TDs. The real story here is Stitch played a Pittsburgh defender against his hometown team and got run over by karma.

Jeremiah (Shakers and Quakers - 41.39) has pointed out his team sucks, and finds no trouble making a believer of Rowan (Aspire Mi Toro - 88.21). Rowan actually wins with Mark Bulger, which I believed would never happen this year. Jonathan Stewart is yet another rookie running back making noise, while Miah loses Justin Fargas to injury for who knows how long. Miah's doesn't put anyone into double digits, but leaves a few good performances on the bench. Devin Hester got hurt, and one more of Hasselbeck's targets is out, too. Maybe Miah should pick up some Steelers so they can get hurt, too.

Kate (teen girl squad - 84.77) doesn't think anyone should vote for her, but everyone but Jacob knows better. Kevin (Buc-ees' Boys - 61.36) has an even worse day. But it's really a pretty sad matchup. In fact I think I'll call it a matchdown. This matchdown featured a -3.03 score, which might be the lowest I've seen, and 2 aughts. Nick Folk the kicker posted the 3rd highest score in the matchdown. Both teams actually have some talent, and Kate gets Steve Smith back next week as well. Kate gets the luckstick award with the lowest winning score, which only beats 2 other scores this week and she happens to play one of them.

Mike (Zingers - 117.79) hangs a good scores on The Winklers (Sooners - 88.83). Some crazy performances in this matchup. Brandon Marshal catches 18 freaking passes, and Mike actually put him in the lineup! Jay Cutler sets the single position 1 game record so far with 46.90 points. Those two account for 72 of Mike's points. Which I think is more than Miah has total over 2 weeks (not true, but closer than you might think). Felix Jones has 250 return yards and a TD.

Only 4 unbeatens left already, and Mom and I play week 3 so guaranteed to be 3 max next week. Ben retains the top spot with another huge score. Brandon has 188 total points with 0 wins, Mike has 197 with 2 wins.

I wudda, shudda, cudda. My adventures with my Packers and their injuries screwed me up. I know, everyone (except Ben) has these problems.

Ben thinks he's perfect and the career games he's gotten from 4 or 5 players is due to his excellent drafting. I'm serious.

Stitch got another 3 points for a Seattle TD that for some reason wasn't counted? That makes 3 matchups with both parties over 100.

I am willing to start a competition to see who can score the lowest amount of points for the season.... every position has to be filled with a starting player, preferably a number 1. Anyone willing to take me up on this?
